Dr. Maureen Sutter (formerly Reynolds) graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. After completing an ambulatory internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, she began working for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and covered several high-stakes races (including the 2009 Kentucky Derby). In 2010, she was given the opportunity to return home to Kansas and continue her passion for helping animals and their owners.

Dr. Sutter is an active member of numerous professional associations. She became more involved in the AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners) in 2021 when she was invited to AAEP Lead 2021, a leadership training program to provide younger members of the equine veterinary profession with leadership skills and training to further their professional growth and development. She is on the AAEP Governance Task Force and was on the AAEP Practice Owner Task Force in 2022. Dr Sutter is also a member of the Student Subcommittee of the Commission on Equine Veterinary Sustainability, where she was part of the speakers’ bureau to travel to veterinary schools and share the positive experiences of being an equine practitioner. Dr. Sutter has worked with Kansas State University to form the Wildcats into Future Equine Veterinarians mentorship group, where they have paired equine practitioners with equine interested students. This mentorship opportunity started spring of 2022 and has continued to grow.

Her service to KVMA (Kansas Veterinary Medical Association) involves being on the Board of Directors as a District Director of Equine from 2019 to present. Furthermore, she is on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Equine Practitioner’s Group, where she has served as Committee Vice Chairman and Committee Chairman. IVCA (International Veterinary Chiropractic Association) has used her expertise in chiropractic care by having her proctor the IVCA Practical Exam on several occasions.

Dr. Sutter purchased Red Oak Animal Hospital from Dr. Todd Welsh in January 2021. She and her husband currently live on a small farm in Paola with their dogs, cats, and horses.
