Maureen Sutter, D.V.M.


Dr. Maureen Sutter (formerly Reynolds) graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. After completing an ambulatory internship at the prestigious Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, she began working for the Kentucky State Racing Commission and covered several high-stakes races (including the 2009 Kentucky Derby). In 2010, she was given the opportunity to return home to Kansas and continue her passion for helping animals and their owners. Dr. Sutter purchased Red Oak Animal Hospital from Dr. Todd Welsh in January 2021. She and her husband currently live on a small farm with their two dogs, three horses and two cats.

Shelbie Wedel, D.V.M.


Dr. Shelbie Wedel (formerly Martel) grew up in Shawnee, Kansas. She knew she wanted to pursue veterinary medicine at a young age and has always loved small animals and horses. She showed horses in the American Buckskin Registry Association for many years and has a passion for western performance horses. Dr. Wedel graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. She practiced in Missouri for a year following graduation and joined Red Oak in late 2019. She enjoys working with small and large animals and their owners. She currently resides in Paola with her husband, Tyler. Together they have one dog, one cat, four horses and a small herd of cattle.



Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Brandie has always had a passion for horses. Before meeting her husband, she was a medical assistant in a very busy family practice group. After starting her family, Brandie ventured back into the workforce joining the fitness world while her kids were young. However, she still greatly missed the nursing/assisting medical industry. It was then she decided to pursue her passion of animals and leave her fitness training background to go back to the medical field. But, this time, with the emphasis on animals.

Brandie’s family life keeps her extremely busy with her four kids, husband and fur babies (OTTB mare, Topper; chocolate lab puppy, KC; calico cat, Piper; yellow bellied slider turtle, Jimmy). You can typically find Brandie either working, at the ball field or at the barn!



Julie has been working part time at Red Oak Animal Hospital since August 2019 and absolutely loves it. She has a degree in Animal Science from Kansas State University and has spent much of her career in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. She genuinely enjoys learning more about animals and how to care for them, and their families, daily. With her husband, Jake, they have identical twin daughters that help care for their 3 cats: Bean, Sparkle, Rosie and their Clydesdale horse, Wynnie.



Ally started as a receptionist at Red Oak Animal Hospital in November of 2021. She has worked with large and small animals for the last 10 years and enjoys learning about how to care for them. She and her husband, Ben, have 3 horses and 8 dogs that keep them busy with their daily shenanigans. When not at the clinic, Ally is spending time with her animals, taking naps, and working around the farm.



Melinda has been a veterinary technician for 13 years. She has been at Red Oak since December 2019, and has worked with both large and small animals. She enjoys trail riding, and is the owner horses, dogs, cats, and goats.



Nikki started with Red Oak Animal Hospital in September of 2015. Nikki has rotated between the doctors to assist with small animal and equine. Along with many others at the clinic, she owns 2 horses and 2 dogs. If not in the clinic, she is either riding her horses or spending time with her family. If you have met Nikki before, you know she has a very unique sounding voice that we all love!



Stephanie Scott grew up in Peculiar, Missouri. She joined Red Oak in March 2016 and has been apart of the team since. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, and her many animals. She currently resides in Creighton, Missouri with her four horses, two cats, and three dogs.



Wendy graduated from the Maple Woods Veterinary Technology program in 2001. She has worked in the veterinary field since 1995 at a Cat Clinic in Oklahoma and has worked in cat practice in the metro area for 15 years before starting work at Red Oak in March of 2015 as the Office Manager.

Wendy and her husband, Ivan, have 4 children-Hannah, Cameron, Alex and Aaron. Cats are her favorite animals and she has 3: Bella, Minnie and Midnight. She also has 3 Grandcats: Cleo, Fergus and Willow. In her spare time she enjoys storm chasing with her family.



Baby joined the staff at Red Oak Animal Hospital in 2011. She spends her time supervising the daily comings and goings of the hospital. She enjoys naps in the sun, kitty snacks and playing (until she doesn’t want to any more). Her favorite person in the world visits her daily when he comes to pick up our UPS packages.
